7 best free SSH Clients for Windows


(1) PuTTy

The putty tool is a free implementation of ssh, very simple to use, and uses very less resources on the Windows system environment. It is based on  SSH1, and SSH 2 implementation. The latest announcement on 10 March 2016 from Putty organization is they are going to move in MSI format through PuTTy’s Windows Installer, which is generated by Wix Toolset, earlier Inno Setup are having some bugs which are hijacked by a particular DDL.

MSI has some nice property with easy to install and remove through  “ msiexec /q “this will automatically install on the path and can be run “ pscp “  through the cmd command line prompt and Open software from the Windows Run button and type simply putty and press enter, it will open your tool on the window.

(2 ) Cygwin

Cygwin is on top of Windows software and it is a home project. They provide software that provides the same functionality as Linux distribution on windows machines. Cygwin works on all versions of Windows. You can find the download link below page under the heading “Current Cygwin DLL version“

(3) TTSSH 

Its an extension of ssh. TTSSH source is also available and free software license. it has a superb terminal emulator for Windows. The current latest version of TTSSH 1.5.4 is compatible with SSH Protocol with this version. Server authentication through ssh_known_hosts files, Compression support, and X connection forwarding has a lot of other features also.

(4) mRemoteNG

mRemoteNG is the main process of mRemote, it supports multi-protocol and remote managers. In mRemoteNG used to add bug fixes and implement them to mRemote. It is a very powerful interface with support of  VNC, ICA, SSH, Telnet, rlogin, and RDP.

(5)Bitvise ( Tunnelier ) 

Bitvise worked on a team and they worked for the Windows platform. The main products are SSH Server and SSH Client. Security of secure remote login is the main feature of this organization. They encrypt data at the network level. So that no one can theft the credentials or see in transferring from your computer through ssh.

 

(6) Xshell 5

It is a very powerful terminal emulator that supports most protocols like ssh, login, and serial. It is freely available but it is not free with full features on free alternatives. xshell offers user-friendly properties that are not present in other terminal emulators or tools. Xshell is free for home and school use, you should use with read carefully the license agreement for terms and conditions on its official website.

 (7) MobaXterm

MobaXterm is available in Home and Profession Edition. Home Edition is Free with nice features like Full X Server and SSH Support, RDP, VNC, XDMCP, and X11-forwarding with some restrictions. The profession edition is not freely available but in this edition, you have full access to this tool.
